Introduction

MICRON® America plastic grommets, snaps, and hardware offer a lightweight solution that will not rust. They also stay non-conductive, which helps in many textile and signage applications.
These products use premium polycarbonate (PC), nylon 6/66, and POM (acetal) for long service life. In addition, they are nickel-free, UV-stabilized, and RoHS & REACH compliant.
For consistent results, you can install them with MICRON® equipment such as the PL-10 Pneumatic Machine, TEP-3 Hand Press, and M-3 Bench Press (table-mounted).

Selecting the Right Plastic Fastener

First, match the fastener to fabric weight and the job.

• Metal grommets: best for heavy-duty outdoor use such as tarps and banners.

• Plastic grommets: lightweight, economical, and non-conductive, so they are ideal for curtains, apparel, and printed textiles.

As a quick guide:

• Heavy fabrics (canvas, denim, tarpaulin) benefit from reinforcement and firm pressing.

• Lightweight fabrics (polyester, cotton, voile) work well with snap-on types or small-ID plastic grommets.

Manual installation

1. Punch a clean hole.

2. Place the washer on the back and the grommet on the front.

3. Press firmly until it locks.

4. Then tap lightly with a rubber mallet if you want a tighter joint.

Snap-Together Plastic Grommets — One-Time Use

• 1/2″ ID PGST #4 Black Snap-Together Plastic Grommets with Washers

These tool-free grommets (PPC material) lock by hand. Therefore, they work well for banners, tags, sunshades, and umbrellas. They are UV-resistant, moisture-proof, washable, and dry-cleanable.

Installation: align halves → press until locked → for thicker fabric, tap lightly with a rubber mallet.
Note: single-use design; removal requires prying apart with a flat screwdriver.

Plastic Washers for Thin & Stretch Fabrics

These flexible washers spread pressure and help prevent cracking on delicate materials. They are also non-metallic, rustproof, and safer for outdoor or electrical environments.
